About Our Grant

Houston Community College, Del Mar College, El Centro College, St. Edward’s University, and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi developed a 24-month innovative plan to recruit and retain Hispanic students into higher education.

Café con Leche is an invitation to talk.  Our proposal is designed to recruit across four Texas communities- Houston, Dallas, Austin and Corpus Christi- and to demonstrate to students and parents the urgent need for an education.

Objectives

  1. Increase Hispanic students’ knowledge about colleges, universities, and professional careers.
  2. Increase the number of Hispanic students who enroll in a 2 or 4-year institutions of higher education or transfer from a community college to a four-year college or university.
  3. Increase the TxHSIC participation of Hispanic Serving Institutions in Texas from 21 to 50.
  4. Serve as a model consortium for other states. We anticipate 1,000 students will participate in one or more activities.
